AKATHSI
aka Crossed Arrows Cheyenne

       Akathsi        Cheyenne        info ...

Akathsi in the play-tunnel In 1988 my first HHP died (well, I had the vet help her with it.) I promised her to look for another tortie in a couple of months. During those months I saw, in a Houston pet shop, a darling of a Maine Coon tortie. I was there with a dutch friend, and we said: "If Katja wants to come back to me, she won't be so stupid to do that in such an expensive kitten." (my financial situation was not optimal), and, regularly looking back, we walked on. Later, we went to a shelter for Witch.

I kept thinking about that Maine Cooon kitten. And so Crossed Arrow's Cheyenne did enter my life, much later, in May 1998. Now for a name! The Iroquis indians used to live in the area that is now the statee of Maine. And in one of their languages I found a word for 'friend': Akathsi. Clicking along I got a further explanation of Akathsi: best friend/partner/(hunting)mate - of the same sex! That was clear, I needed to search no further, Cheyenne became in normal daily life: Akathsi!

Akathsi dreaming with Gandalf

Later on Gandalf joined us, first as Akathsi's foster kid (kit?!), later her best friend. Then Mystery, and the newest addition is Qanta, Mystery's daughter, and Akathsi's half-sister. That's really fun!, and is rejuvenating Akathsi

Akathsi is the oldest and wisest cat in the house - a position that she filled in a royal manner. But than she was castrated, in the fall of 2004. Well, as 'open' queen, Qanta of course could not be submissive to a castrate! That made some adjustments necessary, but now the new realtions seems clear on all sides!
