NIDOBA: This word is as Maine as the Maine Coon. In the language of the Abnaki indians - from the State of Maine - it means:
FRIEND. It is mostly written as ne-do-ba, but a spelling as nidoba is also known. And girl-friend? Simple: nidoba skwa. How do you pronounce it ...well, that is another story, one that I don't know. In any case: NIDOBA, a Maine Coon cattery where FRIENDship takes the center stage!
Maine Coon cattery NIDOBA is a group of friends. The well being of the group is the main thing, not the breeding, not the pedigrees. Health and happiness are the priorities.
The friendship is not only for the Maine Coon cats that have their home behind my front door. If NIDOBA cats have an amorous adventure, it will be with a partner that also is 'nidoba' with his or her people. That means that these partners also will be healthy. Moreover, we will take care that they will complement the NIDOBA cats in type and pedigree. That may not be important for themselves, but it is important for the little friends that maybe will be born 9 weeks later.
The friendship is not only for the cats that have their home behind my front door. Therefor, when a NIDOBA-kitten leaves the house, (s)he gets a, not a bridal gift, but a kitten gift: an amount of money equal to the fee for a shelter kitten will be donated to a (cat-relatd, animal-related) charity.
The friends travel around: in a spacious carrier, well isolated against rain and wind, the NIDOBA cats have traveled with the Public Transportation: that's how we get around to the vet, and that's how we get to shows, where the judges explain to us how beautiful (or not) we are 
. Lately we have hardly visited any shows, but now that Hotohle has joined the gang, we will again be showing off. By the way, Nidoba has been at shows, but often as steward (more than just breeding).
The friendship does not stop at my front door. When nidoba kittens have gotten new friends to live with, the NIDOBA clan has just become more extended: we keep in contact with the friends, both the two-legged and the 4-legged variants!
The friendship is not only limited to the paper, or to the Internet. Many activities are written up on more than just breeding.
And the purpose of all these activities, to which others may be added? I hope that my cats have a good and nice life with me. And a litter? If it happens, then that will be fun, but if not .... it is not a MUST, it just would be FUN!
