And then there are other breeders, with their own specialties. The following Maine Coon breeders - and their homepages - I do heartily recommend! I owe them a lot, and am proud of their friendship!
Itching blood .... even though I now do other things, after a study biology (with a main topic of genetics) I know all about that! The Internet provides all kinds of information about genetics.
Every site tries to to provide some service with links to useful information. I would like to, as well, but ... to re-invent the wheel for the UMPTEENTH time .... Therefore only a few links here, but these sites can direct you to a lot of information about the Maine Coon, their health, character, standards. pedigrees, foundation, and clones. And HCM, SMA, PKD, PL, HD ... And if your breeder does not know these terms ... ask again or search for another breeder! A good breeder knows these things!
Rasclub Maine Coon
... yes, that is a (dutch) site, as Coon-lover you have to know that site!
Maine coon site
with a very congenial forum - visit it before you get that kitten, or older cat!
PawPeds
, by breeders, for breeders ... and for.Maine Coon lovers. A 'must' for everybody who thinks about maybe, in the future, a litter ...: the
Paw Academy, the
health programs, and the
pedigrees. .
l'Hibou,
with the stunning (copy-righted) photograph of Akathsi's father, and more Coons that look a bit like her
.
Asana,
full of care and devotion to their Coons! Check out their list of poisonous plants!
Patchwork
with some more (and more remote) ancestors of my - and almost all dutch- Maine Coon cats. And of course, a very nice puzzle that shows genetics in a cattery!
Kindred Spirits
who is very quietly and very thoroughly laying the groundwork for a well thought-out breeding prongram! For themselves, but also for others: their activity is wide-reaching.
Camelot
with good articles and a good (breeding) plan. More dutch thoroughness than american hype. Very refreshing! Unfortunately, some parties used their copyrighted articles without permission, and they closed their site.
Coonflakes, where Hotohke's daddy lives.
Groene Berg, where Merlijn, Jaro's daddy, lives.
Kensdale, who experienced the troubles and pains of breeding, and who nevertheless remained true to theirprinciples.
And biology.about.com
,
gives a lot of interesting links
Biology
pages with an alphabetical index, nice figures, good information! A biology textbook with hyperlinks.
